This is a short account of what happens to your information when you visit this website or write to us. It is written for a site that has no forms, no accounts and no tracking.

Who is responsible

This website is operated by LloydSmith Guyana. Questions about this page, and any request about your information, go to Sheldon Lloyd Smith at sheldon@lloydsmithgroup.com, the interim address.

What the site itself collects

Nothing. The pages are static files. There are no cookies set by this site, no analytics, no advertising scripts and no forms. The site keeps no record of your visit.

What happens when you write to us

The only way to contact us from this site is a link that opens your own email program. When you send that email, we receive whatever you choose to include: your email address, your name if you sign it, and the content of your message. We use it to reply to you and to follow up on the conversation you started. It is kept in a company mailbox hosted on Microsoft 365, and it is not shared with anyone else or used for marketing lists.

The interim address is used until the company’s own mailbox is live.

We retain enquiry correspondence for as long as necessary to respond, manage any resulting business relationship, resolve disputes and meet applicable legal obligations. Personal information is deleted when it is no longer needed for those purposes. If you would like an email you sent to be deleted sooner, ask at the same address.

Requests made by your browser

Two things happen in the background that you should know about:

• The pages load their typefaces (Source Serif 4, Schibsted Grotesk and IBM Plex Mono) from Google Fonts. Your browser makes a request to Google’s servers for those files, and that request carries your IP address. Google’s own privacy policy governs how it handles that request.
• The site is served by a hosting provider, which may keep ordinary server logs (IP address, page requested, time) for security and operational reasons. Those logs are the provider’s, not ours, and we do not analyse them.
• If you use the “Pause motion” control, your choice is stored in your own browser (local storage) so that it holds on your next visit. Nothing about it is sent anywhere.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, by emailing the address above. Because the site collects nothing itself, in practice this only ever applies to email you have sent us.

Imagery

The photographs on this site are contextual. They show Guyana and the kinds of industry and trade the company works with; they are not photographs of LloydSmith Guyana itself. The landscape imagery, including the short river video, was generated for this project. The photographs of the welder, the worker in steam and the port at dusk are stock photographs from Pexels, used under the Pexels licence. The aerial photograph of Georgetown is “Downtown Georgetown, Guyana” by amanderson2, used under the Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 licence, colour-graded for this site. The historical photographs on the History page are public-domain and Creative Commons images from Wikimedia Commons; each carries its source and licence in its caption.

Changes

If the site ever adds a form, analytics or any other way of collecting information, this page will be updated first and the date at the top will change.
